Sasha started her wrestling training in 2008 with Chaotic Wrestling in her native Massachusetts, where John Cena and Kofi Kingston had previously been. Here, she had her first ring name – Mercedes KV, a play on her real name Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado. She only became Sasha Banks when she joined the WWE performance centre.

By now, nearly everyone should know Snoop is a cousin of “The Boss,” having rapped her to the ring at WrestleMania 32. But she is also cousins with another rapper/singer, Ray J, he of Kim Kardashian fame.

Banks grew up idolising Latino Heat, who she said inspired her to become a professional wrestler. She has paid homage to him numerous times throughout her career, notably at WrestleMania when she wore Eddie-inspired ring gear and hit a frog splash. The two also share a magnetic charisma that is rare in the industry.
