Santos bank on Alfredo Morelos millions as Rangers hero sees big money exit touted DURING unveiling
Santos technical director Alexandre Gallo reckons Alfredo Morelos will recoup the club mega-money as he tipped the former Rangers striker to make a return to Europe.
Morelos endured a difficult summer after leaving Rangers at the end of last season as the free agent searched for a club - with a move to Fenerbahce collapsing late in the window. The end of a move to Istanbul sparked a quick–fire turnaround for the Colombia international as he left Europe behind in favour of a switch to South America where he joined the fallen giants - who are staring at relegation from the Brazilian Serie A this term.
Morelos was officially unveiled as a Santos player at a press conference on Tuesday and could make his debut in the clash with Cruzeiro on Thursday night - and chief Gallo reckons it could be the perfect way to kickstart his career away from the Scottish Premiership. Speaking at the unveiling of the frontman, Gallo said: "We are very happy (with Morelos' arrival). If he performs the way he has been performing recently, it will be a very important future dividend for the club. Santos hold a large part of his sporting rights. He had interest from big clubs in Europe and if he reaches a high level I believe clubs will be interested again. He is young and has incredible numbers."
Morelos' agent Martin Camagno has already left the door open for a January exit - floating a potential move to Russia in January before a single appearance for his new side. He told Sport24 earlier this week: "Alfredo will definitely not move to any RPL club in this (summer) transfer window. Everything takes too long.
