Andre Onana shows his true Manchester United colours with classy Altay Bayindir gesture
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was given a night off by interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy as he started his temporary reign with a win. However, the No.1 demonstrated his dedication by stepping on to the field to assist his fellow glove-men in their warm-up.
Onana was one of four players from Erik ten Hag's final United XI who were not included in Van Nistelrooy's initial line-up as interim manager. Rasmus Hojlund and Noussair Mazraoui were substitutes in a 5-2 victory over Leicester City, but Onana and Christian Eriksen were not part of the matchday squad.
Altay Bayindir started against Leicester, with veteran Tom Heaton as a substitute. Despite some shaky moments in just his second start of the season, Bayindir's performance didn't matter as two goals apiece from Casemiro and the captain Bruno Fernandes secured United's progression.

Few would have blamed Onana for taking a night off, considering his near ever-presence since joining United in 2023. Yet, as Bayindir and Heaton were preparing, the Cameroon international was out there getting them ready for action, something usually reserved for coaches and back-ups.
The majority of the goals at Old Trafford on Wednesday night came before half-time. Casemiro scored twice and both came before the break, with Alejando Garnacho and Fernandes also finding the net, while Bilal El Khannouss and Conor Coady scored for the visitors.
