Ruud Gullit shuts Rangers motormouth's trap in astonishing TV stooshie as Van der Vaart unleashes snidey Ibrox dig

Rafael van der Vaart has been told to wind his neck in by Ruud Gullit in after he claimed he didn't like Rangers and playing Scottish teams is a doddle.

The former Tottenham and Ajax star has carved a niche as the Dutch football's shock jock with Calvin Bassey the victim of his acid tongue on multiple occasions last season in the Eredivisie. And he has admitted he has little time for Michael Beale's side and their abilities ahead of the Champions League second leg against PSV in Eindhoven with the tie all square at 2-2. Van der Vaart claims he loved playing Scottish teams during his playing career and expects Peter Bosz's men to feast on Wednesday night.

Speaking on Rondo's Ziggo Sport, he said: "I really don't like Rangers at all. It used to be great to play against Scottish teams. They don't cover through and there are a lot of spaces. It always seems to be something at home, because it's an impressive stadium with that audience behind it. Only I really can't imagine that PSV won't get through."

But Gullit isn't buying it and told van der Vaart to get a grip of himself as he sees a path to victory for Michael Beale and Co. He said: "I think you underestimate it. If PSV were that good, you should have won it big and you didn’t. You do dominate, but you create very little. Rangers wait just as long until you make a mistake. "

And former Rangers and PSV boss Dick Advocaat admits he believes Rangers can use PSV's total football against them. He added: "With Bosz, the danger is now in the back. It looks good, because he always wants to play offensive football. That is always with him, because he needs the defenders who can play that game.
