Rutherglen Glencairn boss confirms that derby hero striker wants to leave

Rutherglen Glencairn boss Joe Pryce is disappointed that striker Paul Brennan has asked to be placed on the transfer list, but insists there has been no fall-out.

Brennan has made 17 appearances for Glencairn in the West of Scotland First Division, but only six starts.

In that time he has scored three times – including a winner seven minutes into stoppage time to beat derby rivals Cambuslang Rangers 2-1 back in September – and three assists.

Pryce says he has been happy with Brennan’s contribution, but the player wants more time on the pitch.

Pryce said: “Paul came to speak to us and he’s just a bit frustrated at his lack of game-time, so he feels he could maybe get regular game-time elsewhere.

“That’s fine, we’re not going to stand in Paul’s way.

“Paul has been excellent for us this season, he has done really well, he’s a great lad and he has made some important contributions to us this season, but he’s just frustrated at his lack of game-time, that’s all it is.

“There has been absolutely no fall-out. He feels he wants to play a wee bit more and we all understand that.

“Everybody wants to play 90 minutes every Saturday, he feels he has a better opportunity, and that’s fine – we’ll not stand in Paul’s way.”

With Adam Cummings signed on loan from Pollok, Pryce says they won’t look to replace Brennan.

“Adam had come in anyway, so it’s another striker added and that has maybe forced the issue a wee bit with Paul,” he said, “but we’re happy with the squad as it is.

“We’re not in the market to go and buy anybody.

“But if anything appears that we think is going to improve the squad, then you’d be silly not to do it.”
