Petershill v Glencairn: Clash with league leaders isn't bigger than any other, says Glens boss

Rutherglen Glencairn boss Joe Pryce denies Saturday’s clash against league-leaders Petershill is bigger than any other, but is wary of a tough challenge.

Glens were due to entertain title rivals Shotts in a West of Scotland First Division clash on Saturday, but a frozen pitch put paid to that.

Pryce will have his players well prepared for the visit to Petershill Park, but says it is still three points at stake against the Peasy, rather than putting down a marker.

He said: “They’re all massive games. Petershill is not any bigger than Shotts and it won’t be any bigger than Blantyre Vics the week after.

“Every game in this division is tough, and we saw that last week when Whitletts Vics were bottom of the league and hadn’t won a game, but beat us 2-1.

“That’s just the way this league is, everybody is going to be taking points off each other.

“We’re certainly going to prepare properly for Petershill.

“We know they are the league leaders, and there is no tougher game than playing against the league leaders away from home.

“It would put a marker down, but more importantly it would be three points.

“We know Petershill are a good side, we know they have good players there, and we’ve seen the results that they have, especially at home.

“We know that we’ll be up against it, but we will certainly be prepared this week.

“The good thing is that barring some horrendous weather, the game is going to be on.”

Heading to Petershill Park early is Jay McKay, who in three spells scored 59 goals and made 46 assists in 156 appearances.

The striker has agreed a deal to join Rutherglen’s big rivals and Pryce wishes him well, except for Saturday when he is likely to come up against Glencairn.
