Queen of the South boss wants recruits to boost play-off push

Queen of the South need to add players if they’re to have a go at the play-offs this season.

Manager Marvin Bartley has been battling injuries all season long and has now added striker Gavin Reilly to the list after a freak injury in training.

Queens went to Falkirk with Jordan Houston, Jack Brydon, Dan Church, Reegan Mimnaugh, Harry Cochrane and Reilly all unavailable.

Marvin said: “Gavin ran into another player with a closed fist during training, felt a bit of a crack in his finger and he’s got a stress fracture in his finger.

“Honestly you can’t make it up. He is in a cast at this moment in time, we’ll see how long he’s out for but we will be adding to the squad.

“I spoke to the board before the game and we will be doing things and it’s when those things come up, not if they come up.”

Both defender Efe Ambrose and keeper Harry Stone extended their deals to the end of the season last week as Queens started their January window business.

Bartley said: “If we’d have lost Efe or Harry we’d have really been down on our numbers.

“They’re done now and we have to look to bring players in. Reegan is out for the season so we have to replace him, Jordan Houston will be out for a lengthy period of time so we need someone else in that area because we’re just too low on numbers.

“If we’re going to have a real good go this season we need to sort that out.”

After a four game unbeaten run was snapped by Falkirk, Queens will look to start a new streak when they welcome Alloa Athletic to Palmerston on Saturday.

Queens can go above their opponents this weekend with a win, although the Wasps have two games in hand of the South.
