Roy Keane left red-faced after harsh Rasmus Hojlund claim before Manchester United vs Tottenham

Rasmus Hojlund took just three minutes to answer Roy Keane's pre-match criticism.

The Manchester United striker fired the Reds into an early lead against Tottenham with a fine finish. It was the Denmark international's second top-flight goal as he netted in successive Old Trafford Premier League fixtures.

His other five goals came in the Champions League and he missed several excellent chances in the FA Cup win at League One side Wigan Athletic on Monday night. His scoring record has prompted some questions about the £72million forward with Keane saying ahead of the game against Spurs that the 20-year-old needed to discover a killer instinct in front of goal. He certainly showed that with his rifled early effort to leave Keane somewhat red-faced.

"He's been allowed some time now to bed himself into the club, into English football but now we’re talking about Man United," said Keane on Holjund, speaking to Sky Sports before the game. "You have to have that real desire to score goals, they went to Wigan in midweek and won 2-0 with a defender scoring and the second goal was a penalty.

"These players just don’t have the desire to score, and he’s not shown it. There have been players that have come to Manchester United and we’ve spoken about how ‘unlucky’ they are, but you can’t keep waiting. He’s had chances, he’s had an injury when he arrived and you might give him the benefit of the doubt but the shooting and scoring statistics are so poor, it’s unbelievable. It’s also down to the players around him, the more experienced ones that are used to the Premier League, I don’t see that desire in them."
