Dealer, 25, jailed for role in supplying drugs across Greater Manchester

A drug dealer from Bury has been jailed for more than three years. Zaigham Ahmad, 25, was sentenced to 42 months in behind bars for the supply of class A and class B drugs.

Police say he was a member of an organised crime group and was involved in 'distributing large quantities of drugs across Greater Manchester.' He appeared at Manchester Minshull Street Court on Friday (January 12).

Ahmad of Walmersley Road, Bury, was arrested on October 9 by officers from Operation Revoke. After his arrest, his iPhone was seized and downloads showed a significant amount of communication relating to being concerned in the supply of both class A and class B drugs, namely cocaine and cannabis.

Detective Sergeant Craig Murray, of GMP’s Programme Challenger Unit, said: “This is a significant result, putting a prominent individual behind bars and off the streets of Bury.

“Ahmad was involved in distributing large quantities of drugs across Greater Manchester. Our officers used proactive policing methods to form our investigation – visiting areas he was known to frequent, identifying his vehicle and moving quickly to arrest him.

“Messages found on the device clearly indicated a significant level of involvement in the supply of drugs and that in turn leads to involvement in organised criminality.

"Operation Revoke is a response by Bury police working closely with local authority and partner agencies to tackle serious crime and vulnerability in our communities.

"GMP is dedicated to relentlessly pursuing and disrupting serious criminality, and we are determined to continue to bring criminals to justice and remove them from the law-abiding communities
