Roy Keane is right about what Andre Onana needs to do at Manchester United

Whichever way he turns, Andre Onana can't escape comparisons with Manchester United predecessor David de Gea at the minute. Either Onana's shaky start to his Old Trafford career mimics the Spaniard's own uncertain beginnings, or his failures expose the folly of replacing the four-time player of the year in the summer.

The narrative probably depends on which camp you're in. Is Onana just suffering from a new start at a club where the spotlight is harsher than elsewhere, or does he have fundamental shortcomings that have made his £47million transfer a mistake?

It certainly feels too early to write him off. He was statistically the best goalkeeper in the Champions League last season and has the required attributes to play in Erik ten Hag's team. Onana blamed himself for United's collapse in Munich after he let Leroy Sane's tame shot from distance creep under him. Against Galatasaray, his poor pass out led to Casemiro's red card and he again went down too early for Mauro Icardi's winner, before softly conceding to Mathias Jensen
