Andre Onana makes Manchester United promise and reacts to penalty save vs Copenhagen

Goalkeeper Andre Onana is confident that Manchester United are on the cusp of clicking into gear following their dramatic 1-0 win over FC Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Onana, signed from Inter Milan in July, was United's hero of the hour, saving a 97th-minute penalty from Jordan Larsson, son of former Reds striker Henrik. United conceded a spot-kick deep into added time after Scott McTominay was deemed guilty of wiping out Mohamed Elyounoussi.

Onana's last-gasp heroics meant Harry Maguire's first goal since February 2022 secured United their first Champions League win since Villarreal in November 2021. The England defender headed home the only goal of the game with 18 minutes of normal time remaining.

However, it would have counted for nothing had Onana not thwarted Larsson with the very last kick of the game. And the Cameroonian is now adamant United must use that moment to kick on.

Onana told TNT Sports: "Of course [there's resilience]. We are Manchester United, we're a very big club with big players. So it's just a matter of time, now we have to continue like this and we'll get through this."

Onana, who was sounded out by United manager Erik ten Hag to replace David de Gea during the summer, has faced his fair share of criticism following a shaky start to life at Old Trafford. Prior to the win over Copenhagen he had kept just three clean sheets in his first 12 appearances.
