Ross McCausland offered Rangers deal to 2026 as impressed Philippe Clement wants rising star for keeps

Rangers have offered Ross McCausland a new deal that would keep him at Ibrox until the summer of 2026.

The Northern Irish under-21 cap is out of contract in the summer but the Light Blues are keen hand him a new and improved deal. Rangers were keen to open talks but the 20-year-old wanted to wait until a new manager had been appointed. McCausland found his game time limited under Michael Beale but really came to the fore during Steven Davis’s time in interim charge.

The winger came off the bench in Rangers’ last two games before the international break. New Rangers manager Philippe Clement has been impressed with McCausland and is keen for Ibrox chiefs to nail him down. Rangers bought him from Linfield in a compensation deal in 2019. He has progressed through the academy ranks, is a regular in the B team and has now made four first-team appearances.

Meanhwhile, Stephan Van Der Heyden has expressed his delight after being confirmed as Clement's No.2 once again. Speaking to the Rangers website, the Belgian beamed: "I am looking forward to this challenge, it will be a big one, but I think it is a great club. One of the most beautiful things about football is that you meet different people and different cultures, not only football culture, but cultures in general.

“One thing in common is the supporters, they all expect the best from the team. The first impressions are good, I'm sure we can do something here and we can achieve something together.”
