Kenny Miller applies Rangers handbrake on Philippe Clement's Ibrox start with key Beale difference yet to emerge

Kenny Miller says Rangers are taking small steps in the right direction under new boss Philippe Clement - but performances are not yet removed from Michael Beale's era.

The Light Blues took full advantage of a dismal Hibs performance in the Belgian's first game at Ibrox, cruising to a 4-0 win. He's since obtained a 0-0 draw away to Sparta Prague in the Europa League, while 89th and 93rd minute goals from James Tavernier plus Danilo sealed a dramatic 2-1 win over Hearts on Sunday.

Former striker Miller says there have been some positive qualities that Rangers can take heart from in the early days of Clement's tenure. While that cheery outlook can be applied, he insists the three games so far are nothing to go head over heels about. Miller told Clyde SSB : "It's the manner of the win. It's still a performance that's not good enough. For me, the last three weeks' performances have been very similar to what we were watching before. Hibs were awful at Ibrox and Rangers took advantage of mistakes from Hibs.

"Through the week against Sparta Prague, let's be honest, they could have been on the receiving end of a negative result. But maybe there's more of a feel-good factor about the place and they managed to hang on to get a really positive result yesterday (Sunday).

"For long, long spells of that game, it looked like Rangers were going to lose another home game. You can spin the positivity on it about the never say die attitude, sticking to the very end like a real Rangers team should be doing.

"Once you get the equaliser you don't settle for the point, you go for the win. I don't think any Rangers fan should be getting carried away. For me, the performances haven't been that different. I think it's small steps in the right
