The surging Celtic cash influx as Rangers face up to seismic numbers behind Champions League flop

Rangers fans are still picking apart the Champions League defeat at the hands of Dynamo Kyiv - but they will have to quIckly count the cost with Celtic set to rake in a mammoth European bounty.

The Scottish champions go into the revamped competition looking to take their slice of £733m prize pot with over £17million guaranteed to be on its way to Celtic Park before a ball has even been kicked - with Rangers early exit also set to gift their rivals a bigger slice of the cash with the Hoops set to take home all of the UK pool figure that will be distributed to Scottish clubs in Europe's elite competition.

For Philippe Clement and Rangers they will struggle to come close to the jackpot that Celtic will claim - even if they WIN the Europa League after dropping into the new-look league phase. After being crowned Scottish Premiership winners last season Celtic are guaranteed a spot in the league phase of the revamped Champions League format - and Brendan Rodgers will be rubbing his hands together at the financial boost that is on its way to Parkhead when their European football journey kicks off. Celtic will receive a league phase allocation of £17.1m, which is split into a down-payment of £16.4m and a balance of £657k.

They will also have the chance to land some bumper paydays if they can make their mark on the competition. Each win in the league phase banks £1.9m per win and £600k is handed out for a draw. Celtic will play eight league games and, for example, two wins and two draws would haul in over £5m for the club amid the results based income.

Clubs finishing in positions 1 to 8 will also net an extra £1.8m bonus with teams 9 to 16 grabbing an extra £857k, and if they can progress to the knockout round play-offs they
