Philippe Clement's Rangers recruitment worries Hotline doubters but Celtic will pay for lack of spending

A first Rangers win of the season hasn't done much to convince the Hotline about Philippe Clement.

The Light Blues endured a hairy second half against Motherwell and have a crunch Champions League qualifier to negotiate in order to keep their Champions League hopes alive. But some just can't shake the feeling the Belgian isn't the right man to get them properly back on track.

Jamie Thompson, Yoker, said: "I'm sure I am not only Rangers supporter that has doubts about Clement. I just don't think he has what it takes. It was the same same with Beale. There are lots of great managers out there - the Rangers board need to get a grip. I'm a Rangers supporter but you have to admire Brendan Rodgers who is a great manager and buys right players that can play really good football." Gordon Hendry, Ochiltree, emailed: "Yet another poor showing from Rangers against Motherwell and I see Clement's latest signing in central defence has, unfortunately, found his scoring touch already.

"As I've said before, we as supporters are in for a long hard season. At least Dessers has scored in the last two games but it doesn't bode well that we have to rely on players like him and Scott Wright to pull us through.

Not everyone is worried though. Donald Dundas, Uddingston, checked in on those Celtic fans predicting Rangers would struggle for second place: "Can I ask today how all those rubbish talkers in green feel this morning after all the comments on how hearts are the second best team in Scotland and how the Rangers will be lucky to finish third. Sometimes it's best to say nothing until you know what your talking about. Let's see who donates most to the co-efficiency this season again. Hopefully the wealthiest will chip in."
