Rocco Vata scouted in Celtic UEFA Youth League win as Serie A giants join growing list of Italian admirers

Inter Milan ran the rule over Rocco Vata in Celtic’s UEFA Youth League over Lazio.

The Serie A giants are the latest Italian club to put the Republic of Ireland under-21 cap on their radar. They watched the winger play in young Celtic’s impressive 2-0 win over Lazio in the Fersini Stadium in Rome. Inter are interested but if they were to firm up their interest it would be to sign Vata and loan him out in the first instance.

Italian rivals Torino are also long-term admirers but they weren’t given any encouragement by the Hoops in the last window. Frosinone are also new to the fold and watched the 18-year-old score in their Premier League Cup defeat to Brighton last week. The Italian clubs also know Vata is out-of-contract in the summer and can be signed for as little as £350,000 in training compensation.

Young Irish talent has been a big market for the Italian clubs in recent years. Inter already have teenager Kevin Zefi in their Primavera ranks and Udinese have Festy Ebosele and James Abankwah, who is currently on-loan at Charlton Athletic.
