Roberto De Zerbi to Bayern Munich update emerges as Erik ten Hag Man United pressure mounts

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi has emerged as one of the favoured candidates for the Bayern Munich job as Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to admire the Italian.

Earlier this year, MEN Sport reported that De Zerbi was one of the managers that INEOS could bring in if they decided to part ways with Erik ten Hag. At the time, the Dutchman's future was in the balance but Ratcliffe was giving him an opportunity to prove his worthiness for the role.

However, United's form has not picked up and a 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal following the 4-0 drumming at Crystal Palace on Monday night, has put the pressure firmly on Ten Hag. If the Reds were to look towards the Seagulls boss for the Dutchman's replacement, they could face strong opposition from Bayern, according to journalist Christian Falk.

It is understood that Bayern's director of sport Max Eberl is a big fan of De Zerbi and is pushing hard for him to replace Thomas Tuchel. The Italian is believed to have always been on the Bavarian club's list as an alternative to Xabi Alonso and former United caretaker boss Ralf Rangnick.

While Eberl is adamant De Zerbi is the right man to take the club forward, his thoughts are not shared by those in the boardroom with Hansi Flick now being considered for a return to the Allianz Arena. As for Ten Hag, his future will likely swing on the FA Cup final at the end of the month with sixth place in the Premier League now looking a tall order for the Reds.
