Wayne Rooney and Roy Keane agree on Erik ten Hag Manchester United decision amid sack threat

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney believes Erik ten Hag's future should be resolved quickly.

The Dutchman has been under scrutiny throughout the campaign after steering the club to their worst top-flight season for 30 years. United were dumped out of the Champions League in the group stage and failed to qualify in the European positions in the Premier League, but Saturday's FA Cup final provided a chance for Ten Hag to end the season on a high.

However, the build-up to the showpiece at Wembley was overshadowed by speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford. Mauricio Pochettino emerged as the favourite to succeed Ten Hag but the MEN reported this week that the club are among those interested in Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna.

McKenna, a former United academy and first-team coach, guided the Tractor Boys back into England's top-flight for the first time in 22 years after finishing second in the Championship. His formidable rise saw Ipswich earn back-to-back promotions from League One and the second tier to return to the Premier League.

United have refused to comment on Ten Hag's position following reports that he will be sacked following the FA Cup final. Rooney likened the situation to the one that saw Louis van Gaal sacked, while Shearer slammed United
