Atalanta manager rejects Premier League move as Manchester United mull over Erik ten Hag decision

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has revealed he has been approached with an offer to take on a managerial role in the Premier League - but the Italian has insisted he is committed to remaining in Italy.

Gasperini has been at Atalanta since 2016 and last month led the club to a memorable Europa League final victory over Bayer Leverkusen at Dublin's Aviva Stadium. They were the only team to have defeated Leverkusen this season.

But discussing his future with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Gasperini stated: "I've received an important proposal from a Premier League club in the recent days, weeks. I can't accept and leave Italy now. I feel good here, and I'm planning my future here with Atalanta."

While Gasperini declined to name the Premier League club behind the offer, speculation suggests it could be Chelsea, with the London-based club currently one of only two teams in the League without a manager. Conversations appear to be underway for Enzo Maresca to step up as the next manager at Stamford Bridge.

Brighton and Hove Albion are currently the only other Premier League team without a manager following Roberto De Zerbi's departure at the end of the season. Manchester United might also be considering potential replacements for Erik ten Hag, whose future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, reports Football London.

Gasperini's last high-profile managerial gig was with Inter Milan in 2011, but he was dismissed after a five-match winless streak during a challenging period for the Italian club off the pitch.
