Rishi Sunak booed as he leaves Greater Manchester café

Rishi Sunak was booed by members of the public as he left a cafe in Stockport this morning. The Prime Minister was meeting party members and local activists at La Dolce Vita Restaurant in Marple during a visit to the North West.

The location of the meeting was not disclosed to the public. But several people were watching as he left the cafe from the opposite side of Stockport Road with some booing as he appeared and others shouting 'resign' repeatedly.

Members of the public were also heard shouting 'leave now' and 'Sunak out' as the Prime Minister left. It came after Mr Sunak was warmly welcomed with cheers inside the cafe where he met Tory party members and local activists.

One of the hecklers told the M.E.N. after the Prime Minister left, escorted by several police cars, that Mr Sunak is not welcome in Stockport.

Asked why he booed, the Marple resident said: "Because they've broken the country haven't they? Public services crumbling, health service is crumbling, economy crumbling. We've had enough of them."

The Prime Minister answered questions about the economy, the Ukraine war and the Middle East while at the cafe. One attendee asked what his message would be to people who are thinking about voting for Keir Starmer, to which he said "don't", arguing that any vote that is not for him at the next general election is one for the Labour leader.
