Netflix horror film has scene so scary it comes with trigger warning - and has viewers switching off within minutes

A terrifying film on Netflix comes with a trigger warning for a scene that's so 'horrific' it's forced viewers to switch off. Warning - this article contains spoilers and upsetting themes.

The Lodge, which has been branded one of the scariest of the last decade, is currently the top-viewed film on the streaming platform. It follows new step-mum Grace who is snowed in at a holiday village with her fiancé Richard’s two kids.

Soon enough, strange and terrifying events begin to unfold. But one scene just 10 minutes into the film had fans 'screaming' and was so 'sudden' it required viewers to be warned before watching, reports the Daily Star.

In the scene, Alicia Silverstone’s character Laura Hall – mum to the two kids and former wife to Richard – sits down with a large glass of red wine. Within seconds, she’s placed the barrel of a gun in her mouth and shot herself – killing her instantly.

Laura had just discovered her husband was leaving her for someone else, before the movie segues into Richard’s new romance with Grace.

Taking to social media to share their reactions to the grisly scene, one fan said: “I screamed when she did that. I had a feeling it was coming then she did. Caught me off guard completely. Horrible.” While someone else agreed: “It caught me off guard. I had no idea there was even a gun. I thought she was just having a drink to help depression and then...”
