Richard Foster charged for 'lies' outburst in wake of Rangers vs St Johnstone

Richard Foster has landed an SFA charge in the wake of his comments during Rangers'Premier Sports Cup win over St Johnstone.

The former Ibrox defender, who is now a coach at Motherwell, was covering the match for the media when he made his outburst over the explanation of Cyriel Dessers' goal at Hampden. Match officials Matthew MacDermind and VAR Greg Aitken came in for stick over the handling of the second half incident.

The pundit has been handed a notice of complaint in regards to Disciplinary Rule 77. Foster will face his hearing on Wednesday, September 11. During last weekend's Sportsoundcoverage, the pundit called into the studio and admitted using the 'wrong choice of words' as he issued an apology and gave an explanation live on air. It comes after he said in response to an SFA statement seen by the BBC: "Lies! It's a lie. Unless he puts the whistle to his mouth for no reason."

The charge Foster faces states: "A recognised football body, club, official, team official, other member of team staff, player, match official or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA shall, at all times, act in the best interests of Association Football. Furthermore such person or body shall
