Rhys Williams set for Aberdeen FC transfer exit and Or Dadia could follow Liverpool loanee out of Pittodrie

Rhys Williams will return to Liverpool next week - without having kicked a first-team ball for Aberdeen.

The England under-21 international arrived on loan from Anfield in the summer but has struggled to make an impact due to injury and a lack of top-team opportunities. Liverpool and the Dons have now come to an agreement that will see the defender return south next week. Williams only appearances have come for the Dons B team in the Challenge Cup and Aberdeenshire Shield.

The 22-year-old suffered an injury setback in pre-season and never really recovered as Barry Robson’s team went deep into their European and domestic campaigns. Robson then moved to strengthen his central defensive positions by paying decent six figure fees for Richard Jensen and Slobodan Rubezic and then bringing in Stefan Gartenmann on-loan from Midtjylland.

Angus MacDonald has also come into the defensive options while Nicky Devlin has also moved in one at times to play on the right-side of a three, pushing Williams well down the pecking order. Israeli international defender Or Dadia is also in the same boat, struggling for game time.

He is on-loan from Be’er Sheva and it is likely he will also leave Aberdeen this month if he can get his future sorted. It remains to be seen if he returns to Be’er Sheva or can clinch a loan move elsewhere.

Robson is looking to free up wages so he can strengthen his own squad for the second half of the season and another push for third spot and a European return.
