Behind the St Mirren scenes as Stephen Robinson gives unfiltered access to Buddies training ahead of new season

A historic season lifts expectations ahead of a new season at St Mirren but Stephen Robinson and co are happy to punch above their weight once more.

Top six football has been longed for since the 1980s in Paisley and the Northern Irishman delivered it in his first full term in charge, and with season ticket sales at their highest since 2009, excitement is rife within the fanbase. St Mirren begin their Premiership campaign away to Hibs as they look to build upon last season's success, and their Viaplay Cup campaign introduced their new band of stars to fast-paced SPFL action.

Stav Nahmani and Mikael Mandron have got fans talking with goal scoring starts to life in black and white, while James Bolton provides some assured defensive solidity, and there's a new number one in town too with Zach Hemming coming in to replace Dundee-bound Trevor Carson. Conor McMenamin meanwhile is proven quality in a Northern Irish market Robinson knows well.

Ahead of their league opener, Record Sport were granted behind the scenes access to one of Robinson's sessions. As he worked with the forwards, players were also put through their fitness paces before small-sided games.
