Residents told to keep doors and windows shut as fire service tackled blaze

Gwent Police announced that the fire service was dealing with a fire near Manor Way in the Risca area of Newport on Sunday, April 24. Residents near the area were told to keep doors and windows shut as the fire service tackled the blaze.

A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service later confirmed that the grass fire had been extinguished after almost two hours at the scene. They were called to the fire around 5:12pm and the fire was later extinguished around 6:47pm. The spokesperson also confirmed that no one was injured.
