Cleveland Browns reportedly proposed incredibly low offer to keep Jarvis Landry

A report has emerged surrounding Jarvis Landry and the Cleveland Browns and their attempts to re-sign him.

Last year was certainly one of disappointment both for Jarvis Landry and the Cleveland Browns as a whole, as they failed to capitalise on their impressive 2020 season in which they won their first playoff game since 1994. 

With such high expectations, with some even mentioning them as potential Super Bowl contenders, the Browns ended up finishing 8-9, 3rd in the division and out of the playoffs, with Landry putting up a poultry 570 yards receiving and 34 yards rushing.

But despite that, it seems as if the Browns, who could be led by a new quarterback in the form of Deshaun Watson this season, pending his legal issues, wanted to bring Landry back for another year, where perhaps a new man under centre could help revitalise a player who’s had 3 1,000+ yard receiving seasons in his NFL career. 

However, it seems as though they weren’t willing to go all out when it came to tempting him to come back. 

According to a claim from reporter Brad Stainbrook on Twitter, the Browns didn’t want to pay Landry anything above the league minimum salary, a figure that, as per Spotrac, would be $1.120m.

It seems as though that is all that they were willing to pay out for him after what was a sub-par year for the former Miami Dolphin. 

As a result, as you might quite expect, Landry wasn’t willing to agree to that, but did seem to want to come back to Cleveland and asked for more money, all of which the Browns turned down:
