Reo Hatate gears up for Celtic return with nostalgic trip down memory lane as he shares emotional return home

Reo Hatate has been gearing up a big return to Celtic action with a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

The Hoops star - who suffered a frustrating injury-plagued campaign last time around - will be hoping for more luck on the fitness front this upcoming campaign as the Scottish champions bid to defend their crown under Brendan Rodgers once again while they bid to make a big splash on the Champions League after beating Rangers and Philippe Clement to the league crown in order to book an automatic spot in the new league format of Europe's elite competition.

A number of Celtic players have returned to Lennoxtown HQ to start preparations for the new season, but Hatate is still on his break and has been at the "land of memories" in a trip that brought back key moments from his childhood in what he describes as a "very emotional day". Part of the trip included delivering his football expertise to the Kindergarten and middle school club teams with pictures also showing the Japan international penning autographs.

It's been a trip that has "powered" the midfielder for the campaign ahead with Hatate ready to get the hard graft underway in Scotland after a final bit of rest. He has his eyes on glory once more as he told supporters and his followers his wish to do something again next season after a league and Scottish Cup double.

In a post translated on Instagram, he wrote: "I went to Mie, the land of memories. Played soccer on the kindergarten and middle school club teams! Memories of my childhood came back and it's been a very emotional day! Soccer with the kids because I'm powered. A little more rest and I'll work hard for next season! Hopefully we can do something again next year. Thank you very much everyone."
