Matt O'Riley silences Celtic transfer exit swirls as he jumps on US flight with new boy Viljami Sinisalo

Celtic star Matt O'Riley has tuned out talks of an immediate exit by jetting off with his teammates for their pre-season US tour.

And he’s been joined by incoming star Viljami Sinisalo from Aston Villa, who has yet to be announced by the club. Denmark star O’Riley is grabbing attention from across Europe this summer with Southampton, Juventus, Inter and Atletico Madrid also among the 23-year-old's admirers - while speculation over a potential move to Europa League winners Atalanta has ramped up in recent days. Reports in Italy suggest the Serie A side are set to launch a second bid of €18million (£15.1million) plus bonuses of €3million (£2.5million).

Italian transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio as since gone a step further in claiming that O'Riley had "already agreed" to the move and would pen a five-year-contract with Atalanta should the two clubs come to an agreement on his transfer valuation. However, the noise appears to have been put on the back burner by the midfielder as he flew out to America.

O'Riley joined Brendan Rodgers' squad they flew out of Glasgow for their glamour friendlies against Manchester City, Chelsea and DC United. The likes of Gustaf Lagerbielke and Mikey Johnston were among the group that jumped on the plane – despite doubts over their long-term Celtic future.

In terms of new faces, Sinisalo joined up with the squad to fly out ahead of his official Celtic unveiling. The goalkeeper is set to complete a £1million move from EPL side Villa.

There was also a return for the Celtic stars who featured at Euro 2024 for Scotland - Callum McGregor, James Forrest, Greg Taylor and Anthony Ralston - as well as Japan internationals Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda. They had all missed the clashes with Ayr
