Released Rangers midfielder 'given Hamilton chance'

Former Rangers midfielder Josh McPake has been given a chance to earn a contract with Hamilton Accies.

The 22-year-old from Coatbridge has been without a club since leaving Ibrox last month, but has been invited to train at New Douglas Park, with a view to a permanent deal if it goes well.

McPake graduated from Rangers' academy to the first-team squad in 2019, but was loaned out to Dundee, Morton, Harrogate Town, Morecambe, Tranmere Rovers and Queen's Park during his four-year spell.

He left with just one top-team appearance, climbing off the bench in a Europa League qualifier against St Joseph's.

Hamilton boss John Rankin earlier denied that he had an interest in McPake, but that appears to have changed.
