SPFL Trust Trophy draw: Hamilton and Raith Rovers rematch in quarter-finals as semi-final path revealed
SPFL Trust Trophy holders Hamilton Accies will face Raith Rovers in a rematch of last season's final, after the draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of this year's competition were made this afternoon.
John Rankin's men lifted the silverware at the Falkirk Stadium in March, when 10-man Accies held out for a 1-0 win over Ian Murray's side.
Now the sides will do battle again at New Douglas Park when the Championship side come calling in the last eight.
Accies defeated Lowland League East Kilbride 5-2 at K-Park on Saturday to progress and move a step closer to retaining the silverware, while Rovers saw off Montrose 3-1 at Stark's Park.
Fellow Lanarkshire side Airdrieonians are also still in the competition and if they win their last 16 tie against Rangers B, which is due to played on November 7 at Cappielow, they will face a trip to Championship rivals Morton in the quarter-finals.
Airdrie and Accies would meet in the semi-finals of the competition if both teams make it that far, with Accies set to be the home side in that instance.
That would see a rematch of last season's Championship play-off final, where the Diamonds were promoted on penalties at Hamilton's expense.
The quarter-final ties will be played on the weekend of November 18/19 and the semi-finals are due to take place early next year, on the weekend of February 3/4.
The final will take place on the weekend of March 23/24, 2024.
