Referee, VAR, extra-time and substitute rules for Nottingham Forest vs Huddersfield

Nottingham Forest will have Premier League match officials, including a Video Assistant Referee, overseeing the Championship play-off final at Wembley today (Sunday). The game kicks off at 4:30pm BST.

The Reds take on Huddersfield Town under the famous arch for a shot at Premier League promotion. This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides, with Steve Cooper's charges winning twice and losing once in the previous three encounters.

While this is the first time Forest will compete in a play-off decider, the Terriers have extensive experience in this arena. Out of five appearances in the finals, they have been promoted four times, most recently in 2017.

The man in the middle of this titanic battle will be referee Jonathan Moss in his last ever game on the whistle. Running the line will be assistants Marc Perry and Tim Wood who will be running the line, with Craig Pawson the fourth official.

For the first time ever VAR technology will be in operation for the play-off finals. Paul Tierney will be the main VAR on the day, with Ian Hussin his assistant in Stockley Park.

As with all other Championship games this season, sides will be permitted to make up to three normal substitutions during the regulation 90 minutes, concussion subs notwithstanding. But if the tie goes to extra time, each team be permitted to use an extra substitute during the additional 30 minutes.

Extra-time will be split into two 15-minute periods, plus stoppage time if necessary. Should the scoreline remain level after 120 minutes of action then the game will be decided by a penalty shootout.
