Rasmus Hojlund’s unveiling delay explained as Manchester United sell goalkeeper

Here are your Manchester United evening headlines for Wednesday, August 2.

The announcement of Rasmus Hojlund's transfer to Manchester United could be delayed by another three days.

It is understood Hojlund, 20, arrived later than planned on Tuesday and United's schedule surrounding the Dane's signing has altered. Hojlund flew into Manchester Airport at 4.15pm.

Hojlund was due to meet some supporters and conduct activities around his signing today but that was cancelled and United are focusing on his medical.

The deal is not remotely in jeopardy and United are now looking at a possible weekend announcement around the home friendly against Lens at 12.45pm on Saturday.

United agreed a fee of £64m, plus £8m in add-ons, for Hojlund with Atalanta on Saturday morning, having suggested they would not pay more than £60m.

Sunderland have confirmed the signing of Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop.

The shot-stopper, who joined the Reds from Southend United back in January 2020, has joined the Championship club for an undisclosed fee. He has signed a three-year contract at the Stadium of Light.

Bishop, 23, was included in United's 31-man squad for their recent tour of the United States and he started the 3-1 defeat to Wrexham in San Diego. His 45-minute run-out was, of course, overshadowed by his coming together with Wrexham striker Paul Mullin.

Bishop collided with the former Cambridge United ace when trying to beat him to a loose ball and accidentally punctured his lung. Mullin required oxygen and was taken to hospital before later being discharged.
