Coronation Street fans say 'poor Sarah' as character is given heartbreaking news about baby

Sarah Barlow was given some heartbreaking news in the latest episode of Coronation Street. It came after she was tricked into taking part in a gender reveal celebration where, instead of it being announced that her unborn child was a boy or girl, her husband Adam used the moment to declare the baby wasn't his - and that the dad was Damon Hay instead.

On Wednesday's instalment of the ITV soap (August 2) Sarah called on Adam insisting they needed to talk, desperate to save her marriage. As Adam railed at Sarah for all the lies, she was suddenly hit with stomach pain.

Seeing Sarah getting into a taxi to take herself to hospital, Maria told Adam. Horrified, as he thought she was faking her pain, Adam went after her.

In the hospital terrified Sarah underwent a scan - and was told by the nurse that she had lost her baby. This is the second baby Sarah has lost, as her son Billy died in 2004 after being born prematurely.

After heading to the hospital and being given the news by Sarah, Adam disclosed to her that he knew the gender of the baby, a girl. Sarah said she had been thinking of calling her Sadie.

As the emotional scenes played out, Coronation Street fans expressed sympathy for Sarah on Twitter. Mellers1313 @Mel_Navan said: "Poor Sarah losing a baby. It's the worst feeling."

Ryan Glendenning @RyanTheSoapking commented: "Sarah was under a lot of stress following the breakdown of her marriage. This is nobody's fault."
