Rasmus Hojlund relishing Manchester United pressure ahead of Brighton chance

Rasmus Hojlund is already embracing the pressure of being Manchester United’s main man up front.

The young Dane has had little time to work but has succeeded in capturing the imagination of supporters with his undoubted potential and exciting cameo at Arsenal. It is accepted that, as a 20-year-old striker with just one full season in a top European league under his belt, Hojlund is a raw talent that will require nurturing.

However, there was little hint of that when he entered the pitch at the Emirates Stadium, with little over 20 minutes remaining, and immediately gave the Reds an outlet in attack. On Thursday, United revelled in sharing that the £72m man had recorded the quickest sprint of any United player so far this season as he looked to support Marcus Rashford, ranking fifth in the Premier League, overall.

Many players would wilt under the pressure of such a high-profile transfer fee, but Hojlund is showing that he has the mentality needed to succeed at Old Trafford. When asked if he was excited to return to United during the international break, he replied: “Of course I am. I’ve said it many times and that’s probably the biggest thing you miss when you’re with the national team. So I’m looking forward to it. I live the dream every day, so I’m happy about that.”

This was the same international break that saw Hojlund lead chants with Denmark fans after helping his country to an important win over Finland in Helsinki.
