Manchester United may have already found Rasmus Hojlund's future strike partner

Manchester United welcomed Rasmus Hojlund to Old Trafford in the summer but remain in the market for competition at No.9 - and may have already identified their target.

Hojlund has been the bright spark in an otherwise woeful start to the season for United, following his £72million move from Atalanta in August. The Danish international was absent for the first month but has since scored three goals in two Champions League appearances.

United undoubtedly took a risk in signing a 20-year-old to be their main striker, but the early signs suggest it has paid off. Nevertheless, competition upfront remains an area that Erik ten Hag wants to strengthen in the future, especially with Anthony Martial's contract expiring in the summer.

One player who has been on United's radar for some time is Benjamin Sesko, the young Slovenian enjoying a rapid rise to prominence that resembles Hojlund's. The 20-year-old joined RB Leipzig this summer after scoring 29 goals for RB Salzburg over three seasons.

“It’s a really big step to go from Salzburg to here [Leipzig] in one of the best leagues in the world,” Sesko told The Telegraph recently. “Sometimes I have to stop myself and say: ‘Look, this can take time and then it’s going to work.’ But I am really, really happy with the start.

“I am not thinking about where I want to go next. I don’t have a favourite club to be. It’s important to make the right decision from where I have been. I just want to focus on here and let’s see what happens.”
