Rangers transfer news as Jose Cordoba targeted by Turks and Sam Lammers schedules Ibrox talks amid Eredivisie tug of war

Rangers welcomed Jefte to Ibrox on Friday evening as the Brazilian put pen to paper - but the Light Blues face late competition from ambitious Turkish side Eyupspor for the signing of Panama international defender Jose Cordoba.

The Ibrox side have been strongly linked with a £3 million move for the Levski Sofia stopper who has already visited Ibrox during a game against Kilmarnock last month. And while they remain strong favourites to complete the signing of the 12-times capped star who will turn 23 next week, they will have to fend off late interest from Turkey.

Istanbul side Eyupspor have just won promotion to the Turkish Super League for the first time in their history after romping to the title in the second tier. And they want some big names for next season's assault on the top league. They are managed by Turkish legend Arda Turan, the former Atletico Madrid and Barcelona star who won 100 caps for his country. He guided Eyupspor to the title in his first season of his first job as a manager and the club are well backed financially. And they have contacted Levski to enquire if the Bulgarian club would accept a late offer for the player.

Meanwhile, Sam Lammers has revealed he will hold talks with Rangers this week after AZ Alkmaar entered into the race to sign the on loan striker to replace the top scorer in the Dutch League. Lammers has been a revelation for Utrecht since joining on loan in January and has netted ten goals in his last 11 games for the club, including one in their European places play-off semi-final win against Sparta Rotterdam on Thursday.
