England's Euro 2024 hopes and full TV schedule: BBC and ITV share coverage rights

The 2024 European Championships are nearly here - could this be the year that England finally brings football home?

It's been almost three decades and seven editions of the competition since comedians David Baddiel, Frank Skinner and the Lightning Seeds coined the country's most iconic football phrase. However, the Three Lions have not managed to fulfil this mission since 1966 when Bobby Moore hoisted the Jules Rimet trophy at the old Wembley Stadium.

Gareth Southgate became the first England manager since Sir Alf Ramsey to guide the Three Lions to a major international tournament final. However, he was unable to replicate Ramsey's success, suffering a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat to Italy in Euro 2020.

Now, he aims to go one step further in what could be his last tournament with the team.

Harry Kane will once again captain the side, but without the support of Harry Maguire who sustained a calf injury a few weeks ago and did not recover in time for the tournament. Despite this setback, England remain pre-tournament favourites, although they will undoubtedly be wary of the threats posed by France, Spain, Portugal and reigning champions Italy.

Both the BBC and ITV hold broadcasting rights for this year's European Championship matches - but which games will be shown on which channel? Here is our guide to the group stage broadcasts.
