Rangers transfer bulletin as new Joan Jordan door opened and Cheikh Niasse emerges as midfield 'target'

Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan may yet get his move to Rangers - as the La Liga side get set to announce another midfield arrival.

The Andalusians are in advanced talks over a three-year contract for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez - the brother of one-time Rangers loanee Aaron Niguez - with Diego Simeone granting the player a free transfer to complete his move. The increase in midfield options at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan could allow Rangers to complete a proposed loan deal for Jordan, as Philippe Clement looks to add first-team ready players to his squad.

Sporting Director Victor Orta has already stated that Jordan's days at the club are numbered, but Sevilla are also wanting the 30-year-old's entire salary to be covered as a condition for sanctioning any Ibrox loan exit, which has proved a stumbling block to this point. Clement has been keen to reinforce his midfield this window after losing John Lundstram, but he's hinted at more experienced names coming later in the window - and Niasse could be one to that end.

Sport Italia say Gers are keen on the 24-year-old enforcer and have made an early enquiry about his availability, while it's claimed Udinese are also keen on the Senegalese playmaker who racked up 38 appearances last term.

One new midfield arrival already in the door at Ibrox has slotted in seamlessly to life at the club. Connor Barron was given a bit more than a half of action during the pre-season outing with Ajax
