Rangers transfer activity analysed as Ryan Kent Leeds issue raised amid contract uncertainty

Kris Boyd says Rangers' quiet transfer window so far will only be a concern if players aren't signed in the next week.

John Souttar is the sole arrival at Ibrox so far from Premiership rivals Hearts this summer despite strong links to players like PAOK's Antonio Colak. Another area highlighted is Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo and Alfredo Morelos' contract situation, with each attacker having 12 months left to run.

Premier League side Leeds United have been admirers of Kent in the past and former Light Blues striker Boyd insists it's that situation where Rangers are powerless, as somewhere like Elland Road can prove more financially beneficial for the trio.

Amid the exit links he told Sky Sports: "The reality is Rangers have got a number of players going out of contract next season and it's very unlikely they will be able to keep every single one. Usually when you're going out of contract you know what kind of figures you want.

"You wouldn't imagine Rangers would be able to get to anywhere near what say Leeds would be able to offer Ryan Kent if he was to go there on a free transfer.

"The reality is Rangers night have to do a few sales this summer so players don't leave for nothing next season.

"I don't think Rangers are in a position where they're just going to roll over and let people take their players.

"I'm not concerned right now but if there are no signings in the next week then I would be. There is no doubt that Rangers need to get players in. With the likes Amad Diallo, Aaron Ramsey and Leon Balogun all leaving then the squad is definitely weaker in terms of numbers, so they are going to have to get a few players in."
