Rangers tracking 'a lot of players' as Sam Lammers sees exit door close and new signing told his true status

Rangers boss Philippe Clement has revealed he is casting his eye over multiple potential new signing options as they aim to hit the ground running.

The Belgian insists no excuses will be sought with his side set to be absent from Ibrox until at least October and long-term regulars such as Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Borna Barisic departing over the summer. And Clement – on the hunt for fresh faces – is adamant it's a different ball game for clubs doing business with Euro 2024 and the Copa America taking place.

The Ibrox boss said: “It’s not a point now to rate [the window]. The one thing I have learned is to work hard, work hard with the players who are there and you never know how fast things go. You are not in control of that. With players you want you first need to convince them to come and then you need to convince their team that you pay the right amount of money. You can only make an evaluation on September 1. That is my reality. Sometimes you do business early, sometimes it can be the last day. It depends on the market. Also, my experience tells me that in the years you have World Cups or Euros, the market starts slower. We have been really busy already with watching a lot of players. Already we have done really good things for the future of the club.

Meanwhile, one club appears to be out on Sam Lammers with Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar closing in on a deal for Tottenham striker Troy Parrott. The Irishman was a smash-hit with Excelsior last season and netted 17 goals in all competitions. Now the 22-year-old appears set for AZ to all-but shut the door on Lammers. The Rangers striker breathed new life into his career on loan at Utrecht and he is not part of Clement's plans moving forward.
