By then the transfer window will have slammed shut. It is a crucial one for Clement, who admitted he faces a huge rebuild. The Belgian is reshaping his squad with arrivals and big-name departures on the cards, with vice captain Connor Goldson preparing to be announced by Aris Limassol. Clement has admitted every player has a price tag, even Jack Butland. The Belgian’s stance on his first-choice keeper has softened slightly – having previous insisted the Englishman wasn’t for sale – with Rangers needing to sell to raise funds for new arrivals.

However, Butland wouldn’t be allowed to leave on the cheap, with Clement slapping a £30million price tag on the Ibrox No.1. It seems unlikely any club would stump up that kind of sum, but stranger things have happened. While the cash would be welcome, replacing a keeper of Butland’s would calibre would potential create more problems than it solves.
