Rangers 'regret' Luis Palma transfer miss as Celtic winger puts spotlight back on bold Michael Beale claim

Rangers will live to regret not snapping up Celtic winger Luis Palma before his move to Parkhead, claims former Ibrox star Andy Halliday.

The Honduran international sealed a move to Parkhead to close out the summer window with a flurry of transfer business from Brendan Rodgers. He makes a £3.5million move to Celtic from Greek Super League side Aris despite being touted with moves to clubs across Europe this summer - including a switch to Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers.

Following Palma's move to the Scottish Premiership champions, then-boss Michael Beale claimed that it was Rangers who who were unwilling to snap up the 23-year-old. He claimed that Aris had been "pushing" for the wide man to leave and the Light Blues could have "taken him on loan maybe with an obligation (to buy) at the time" but were not keen on a deal.

Palma was the star of the show during the 6-0 rout against Aberdeen as he netted from the penalty spot - while also crossing an inch-perfect ball from the left-flank to allow Hyeongyu Oh to net his first of the game against the Dons. And it was the cross that left former Gers star Halliday purring on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

The Hearts midfielder said: "I like a team goal or a bit of magic so I've went with Oh's first goal. You can probably guess why, it's the ball in from Luis Palma.

"I've said a few times Rangers might live to regret not getting him over the line during the summer and I think we're starting to see why. I think he's shown real, real quality and that ball in is moment of the weekend as well as goal."
