Philippe Clement lost his perfect Scottish Premiership record after Sunday’s draw against at Aberdeen at Pittodrie and for spells of the game the fans feared they were watching a rerun of a performance they thought had gone out of the Ibrox exit door along with Michael Beale.
The problem for the Belgian is that while he has brought a freshness to the Light Blues, he is limited in what he can do with a squad of players who were underperforming so badly under Beale. There isn’t much that can be done about that until he can get to the January transfer window and go about bringing his own men in.
Until then, he has to make the best of what he’s got and there is a limit to what he can achieve having previously said he doesn’t have a magic wand. While Clement won’t be let off completely when results don’t go their way, he will certainly be cut plenty of slack which is mainly down to how bad things had become before his arrival.
