Rangers No.2 in furious touchline blast over Ajax goal but Ibrox icon has zero sympathy for 'napping' stars

New Rangers coach Andries Ulderink was involved in an explosive clash with the fourth official during the pre-season showdown with Ajax.

Philippe Clement is putting his side through their paces in the Netherlands with the new Scottish Premiership season rapidly approaching - and the tests don't come much bigger at this stage of the campaign than the Dutch heavyweights. While the competitive stuff still hasn't started, that doesn't mean that there weren't some spiky exchanges during the showdown - with Clement's new lieutenant left reeling after Ajax's opening goal.

A quick free-kick by Jordan Henderson slipped in Kenneth Taylor with the Rangers defence standing still - before the attacker was bundled over in the box by Jack Butland. Play was not stopped and Kian Fitz-Jim fizzled the ball in the bottom corner with Butland's goal gaping - quickly sparking protests on the touchline from the Light Blues' coaching team.

Ulderink was unhappy that the Ajax free-kick had been allowed to be taken quickly in the build-up - and quickly confronted the fourth official. On Rangers TV, Lee McCulloch was less than sympathetic stating: "It's a quick free-kick that has caught the boys napping.

"The first person I was looking at was Connor Goldson and he has turned his back on it. Jack has come out and both him and the striker have missed it - but it's disappointing, the concentration levels have just dropped and we have been caught. Never turn your back on the ball."
