Rangers news latest as Arsenal spark tug of war over Ibrox 'target' as Euro rivals stung by pain in the Aris
It's been a big few days for Rangers, and after the club's accounts were posted on Monday, fans are turning their attentions to the January transfer window to see John Bennett and co can cook up for Philippe Clement.
Before then though there's a gruelling run of games to contend with - including two big Europa League ties that will decide if, and in what competition, they will play in Europe after Christmas. The first of those comes at Ibrox on November 30 when Aris Limassol come to town, the Cypriot side hoping for a repeat of their shock victory on home turf.
Aris need to at least match Sparta Prague's result against Real Betis to keep their Euro fate within their own hands while a win for Rangers would guarantee them qualification for the knockout stages - and set up a shootout to win the group in Seville on the final matchday. But first it's Limassol who need taken care of and they could have suffered a hammer blow with key man Yannick Gomis a major doubt to play Rangers.
Senegalese international Gomis was instrumental in the win in Cyprus, but he injured himself in Aris' shock weekend 4-1 defeat to Karmiotissa. An Aris statement stated: "Yannick suffered from a muscle injury after the weekend and will now undergo tests to discover the severity of the injury. After that, we will get a timescale for his return."
They may have 11 games to contend with in the six weeks before the window opens but plans for the window are already well underway. Back in October, top Sunderland prospect Mason Cotcher was linked with a move to Ibrox, with Arsenal and Brighton also swirling around the 17-year-old.
