It was inevitable as soon as the Champions League draw set both teams on a collision course.

Rangers will once more have to knock PSV out of their way if they want to mix it with the big boys in the group stage once again. It's just over a year since Gio van Bronckhorst returned to his homeland and did a number on old mate Ruud Van Nistelrooy. After a 2-2 draw at Ibrox, the Dutch side were fancied to do enough in Eindhoven and condemn the Gers to another season in the Europa League after making the final just a few months previously.

All the pre-match talk was of Alfredo Morelos' lack of fitness and questionable attitude, which led to Van Bronckhorst dropping the Colombian for the trip to the Netherlands. That left the goalscoring burden on Antonio Colak, and the big Croat delivered to send Gers through. The less said about their group stage experience that followed, the better.

Michael Beale didn't fancy Colak and shipped him out to Parma. But whatever his faults, his record in front of goal was a reliable one. The same can't be said for Beale's new recruits so far with Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and Danilo all guilty of big misses against Servette in the third qualifying round.

The Ibrox boss ha urged them to sharpen up before facing PSV, who he claims are a level up. Many have tipped them to prevail over two legs this time.
