Rangers injury state of play as Todd Cantwell and another star survive scares in bruising Livingston test
Todd Cantwell was 'touch and go' to start against Livingston - but appears to have survived a serious scare in the second half.
Cantwell was one of Rangers' key men in the eventual 4-0 rout as his drive created Sam Lammers' opener before a late flurry from Danilo, Abdallah Sima and Kieran Dowell put the game to bed. He missed out the opener against Kilmarnock but started this one and Michael Beale has revealed he required a last-minute fitness test before being named in the starting lineup.
But Beale would have had a fright when Cantwell hit the deck in the second half and required treatment before eventually returning to the play. Asked for an update on his condition though Beale wasn't too concerned about the knock as Cantwell finished the game. Beale said: "Todd had a fitness test to play in the game today so it was very much touch and go.
"He took a knock to his thigh in the game in midweek. He was desperate to play but you could see he got really tired just before he came off."
Danilo also took a heavy knock shortly after Cantwell and had to go off to be treated. But he also returned to finish the game and scored the crucial second goal that eased the nerves growing around the stadium as the final ten minutes approached and appears fine.
Meanwhile Tom Lawrence is closing in on a return to action but after a year out, Beale is playing it safe. He said: "Tom Lawrence is in the background but he's been out for a year so is a 10 or 15 minute man, but he'll get there."
