Hearts midfielder spotted at Hamilton's win in Kelty, as Accies gaffer's triple substitution makes instant impact to earn points

Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin refused to take credit for the triple substitution that provided both goals in their win over Kelty Hearts - where signing target Connor Smith was in attendance.

Accies made it back-to-back wins in League One as goals from Reghan Tumility and Ryan One earned a 2-0 win in Fife that took them top of the table with Stirling Albion.

The game swung on Rankin's triple switch after 58 minutes, with substitutes One, Euan Henderson and Lewis Smith all combining to tee up Tumilty for the opener, just 30 seconds after coming onto the pitch.

And then the trio teamed up nine minutes later when One netted his first league goal for Accies.

But Rankin said: "Sometimes these things work for you and you get fortunate.

"I'm not taking any credit. The players have got to take credit for it.

"They warmed up properly and they made an impact within 30 seconds.

"That is massive, so credit to them for doing that.

"We made the three subs at the same time. Euan Henderson was back fit so we always knew he could make an impact from the bench, Smithy and Ryan come on as well.

"The three of them combine to set up Reghan and then the three of them combine at the second goal, so I'm really delighted with that.

"I said throughout pre-season that this year will be about the squad, not just the starting 11, and it certainly proved to be the case today.

"I'm delighted with the way the boys are going about their business and trying to implement our ideas.

"They just have to keep doing that and keep working hard.

"It is tough for the boys who are not getting on right now, but it is a squad game, as I say, and they need to be ready when their time comes.
