Rangers fan floats a Celtic VAR theory as Europa League glory descends into domestic barney - Hotline

Van's the man and VAR’s the star for Rangers after another monumental evening of European football at Ibrox.

A 3-0 Europa League victory over Red Star Belgrade had Gio van Bronckhorst and his side being hailed on the Hotline.

And the video assistants - who awarded Gers a penalty for their opener while correctly ruling two Red Star goals offside - also got a pat on the back.

Somehow it still descended into a slating for officials closer to home and conspiracy theories though.

A special mention for Allan McGregor who pulled off a world class save. As for all the VAR doubters, this tie showed that it is a must for Scottish football as the penalty wouldn’t have been given in this game without VAR.”
