Rod Stewart applauds Rangers win but Celtic mad star can't resist goading Jim White with title jibe
Sir Rod Stewart couldn't help but congratulate Rangers on their thumping Europa League victory.
But the Celtic mad rock star was quick to remind the Ibrox side that it's his team top of the tree in the Premiership.
Rangers wiped out Red Star Belgrade in the first leg in Glasgow in one of the most remarkable European nights in recent memory.
They won 3-0 in a frenetic game that saw the visitors have three goals chalked off while Allan McGregor saved a penalty.
But it was a formidable Gers performance and one that puts them on the brink of qualifying for the Europa League quarter-finals.
The fallout has dominated the headlines on Friday and Jim White discussed it with Simon Jordan on his morning talkSPORT show.
And once the topic had moved onto Rangers it wasn't long before the outspoken Stewart texted in to make his feelings known.
White said: "As I was getting in my bed last night, in came the message from Sir Rod Stewart.
"He says: 'I've just seen the result, well done the Gers, keep the flag flying for Scottish football - but the league title in Scotland is Celtic's. Goodnight! Sir Rod'."
